14 year Old Girl Wins ICT Training Contest

Ms. Hawau Imoro, a-14-year-old JHS two student of the Banda Islamic Junior High School (JHS) in the Banda District has been delegated champ of the 2022 ‘Young ladies in ICT’ preparing program in the Bono Region.

The program is a part of the International Telecommunications Union’s (ITU) idea to motivate and engage young ladies and young ladies to think about further studies and professions in the developing field of ICT.

She was among 1,000 students chosen from the primary schools in the district to partake in the current year’s ‘Young ladies in ICT’ preparing program coordinated by the Ministry of Communication and Digitalization (MoCD).
For her award, Ms. Imoro brought back home a GhC3,000.00 check, a laptop, and other learning materials.

Two others, Jessica Boahen Asare Yeboah, a form one student of the Drobo Demonstration JHS, and Emmanuella Agyeiwaa, also a form two student of the Nsoatre African Faith Basic School arose second and third champs separately.

Ms. Yeboah got a GhC2,500.00 check, a laptop, and a plaque, while Agyeiwaa had a GhC2,000.00 check, a laptop, and a plaque.

Another 100 chosen meriting students who partook in the one-week serious ICT training program that acquainted them with fundamental computer knowledge including an introduction to computing, coding, scratch, gaming, and network safety also got a PC.


Talking at a durbar in Sunyani, to peak the training program, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Minister of MoCD accentuated ICT was not a specialty for young men, saying “we can’t afford to leave young girls behind in advancing digital technology”.
