Achimota ’97 Year Group Constructing Ultra-modern ICT Centre For School

The 1997 year group of the Achimota Secondary School, is back to their alma mater and is in the process of constructing an ultra-modern Information, Communication and Technology Centre (ICT) for their silver jubilee year after completion.

The project valued at GHS 900,000 is being financed through donations and fundraising activities and is expected to be completed by the close of the year.

The year group President, Dr. Papa Nii Maale-Adjei, made the revelation during the Torchlight Procession and Bonfire Night celebration they hosted.

Bonfire night is an annual traditional event hosted by different year groups of the school, during which they come together to celebrate whiles discussing ways of improving certain things in their alma mater.

Dr Male-Adjei said the project is their way of giving back to the school which has helped shaped them into what they are.

‘We are undertaking the project to reciprocate what we had gained from the school and that making the Achimota School an ICT Centre of Excellence is our hallmark,” he said.

He also said they had gone into partnership with the Food and Drug Board (FDB) and launched a sensitization campaign on Anti-Drug Abuse.

Dr. Maale-Adjei further advised the students to avoid any examination malpractices and rather be studious so they can succeed.

The Chief Executive Officer of the FDA, Mrs. Delese Mimi Dako, commended the Year Group for the campaign, which she believes is yielding fruitful results.

She again said kudos to the Year Group for the ICT project and is positive the project when completed would enhance effective teaching and learning.

The next Torchlight Procession and Bonfire Night will be hosted by the 1998 Year Group of the school.
