Construction Of A 100-seater Capacity ICT Laboratory To Be Built For St. Thomas Basic School
On Wednesday, students, teachers, and locals of St Thomas R/C Basic School in FIapre in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region had a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a 100-seater capacity Information and Communication Technology.
The project which is estimated to be GHS 450,000 will be funded by Mr. Prince Lamptey Tetteh, a Ghanaian International business and an old student of the school.
Mr. Tetteh promised the project would not be abandoned along the line but will be fast-tracked and completed this year.
He said technology has become part of our lives and keeps evolving, hence, there is an urgent need for ICT to be taught in school right from the basic level so the pupils have an in-depth love; as the progress and learning become much easier.
Giving his reason for this act, Mr. Tetteh said since his days he knew about the challenges the school faced plus a former headmaster made an appeal and he decided to come to the aid of the school.
Mr. Tetteh also made appeals to his other colleagues and other well-wishers to support needs schools, especially in the area of ICT to improve the teaching and learning of the subject in all schools across the country.
The headmaster of St Thomas R/C Basic, Mr. Anthony Tang, thanked Mr. Tetteh on behalf of all present and further appealed to charitable organizations to support with fencing of the school to tighten security.
