Ethiopia Ride-hailing company Catch Taxi to expand in East Africa

Catch Taxi Kenya has begun operations in the Kenyan market, even registering new drivers and partners as it extends its East African footprint. The app provides its users’ comfort, safety, and efficiency.

As a new player, it will face a highly competitive market that features Uber, Little Cab, Bolt, Click Cabs, SafeBoda, Wasili, Sendy, PTG Travel, inDriver, and Maramoja. However, they plan on leveraging local talent and expertise to compete against international brands.

To capture the Nairobi market, Catch Taxi promises affordability and creativity in its strategy to capture the market. Catch Taxi’s new approach will ensure drivers retain most of their earnings. It has an affiliate programme allowing third-party drivers and to earn passive income through referrals.

The app charges drivers a 15% commission per trip, a better rate than current industry players. A driver affiliate program provides the drivers 1% of the total amount paid for any trip.

Catch Taxi is an app run by Africans and tailored for the African market. The CEO and co-founder, Nafie Omar, revealed plans to build a ‘Super App’ several months ago. The project will launch from Nairobi, East Africa’s technological hub. He revealed plans to expand into Sudan, West Africa, and other Southern Africa countries next year.
