GhIPPS Fee Waiver For Digital Transactions Postponed To June 20
The Ghana Association of Bankers (GAB) and the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS) have agreed to suspend charges on digital banking platforms until June 20, 2020.
GhiPPS had initially intended on reinstating the waived fees which had started on March 23 to facilitate the use of digital payment channels as a result of the lockdown in Ghana.
But the GAB had pushed back the idea of the reinstatement of the fees. The two sides finally had a meeting where the agreement to extend the waiver was reached.
A statement released by the Ghana Association of Bankers stressed, “We, therefore, encourage all our customers to continue using our alternate digital banking platforms and visit physical branches of Banks only when it is absolutely important and necessary to do so.
