Hotel Management urged to use digital marketing tools

The Deputy Director of administration at the Ghana Tourism Authority, Mr. Agyenim Boateng, is urging hotel management in the country to use digital marketing tools in order to grow their business and help promote the tourism sector in the country. 

He said worldwide, people use digital marketing as a tool to improve and create opportunities in tourism and Ghana can also do the same.

Mr. Boateng, who also doubles as the Coordinator of the Ghana Cares Obaatan pa program, gave this advice during a hospitality training program for hotel personnel in the Northern region. This training session was put together by the Ghana Tourism Authority through Care Ghana International.

The aim of the training was to build the management capacity of workers in the industry and promote the essence of marketing tourism in the region.

The event is a part of the GHS 100 billion Ghana Cares ‘Obaatan pa’ program, a three-and-a-half-year comprehensive program to reduce the effect of COVID-19 on the economy. It also aims to create a more resilient economy, mainly targeting the tourism sector.

Mr. Boateng urged the participants to make use of the social media platforms to promote their brands by creating valuable content and should also use communication with their customers to promote Ghana’s cultural heritage.

Mr. Apaloo Lolo, a Consultant at Total Growth, advised the participants to take customer care very seriously in the hospitality industry.

“Customers always choose the business that has the best customer service, because they want to feel valued and appreciated by getting the best possible experience for their money.”

He said the hospitality industry included all businesses in which customer interactions were a core component of their operations, such as restaurants, bars, resorts, theme parks, and tourist destinations.

Mr. Lolo said customer services mostly affected all purchases in the hospitality business’s products or services.
