KNUST Develops Apps To Enhance Academic Administrative Works

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is building a stringent and strong e-framework to give different internet-based stages to upgrade research, teaching, learning, and managerial work.

Professor Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson, the Vice-Chancellor, said the move was in accordance with the advanced vision of the University and is a part of the e-techniques being moved for the practical improvement of the foundation.

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has turned into a key empowering agent for the center business of each and every establishment, including colleges, the Vice-Chancellor noticed, saying that KNUST had increased determination to assume a more dynamic part in the fourth industrial revolution.

On the whole, a sum of seven applications, created by the University Information Technology Services (UITS), were launched, involving the KNUST Academic Info Manager (AIM), Online Transcript System, Promotion Application System, Online Timetable Management System, Feedback App, TekScholar and TranSwift.

On the use and significance of the applications, Prof. Mrs. Dickson said that the AIM App was to bring the elements of the online students portal to cell phones, while the Online Transcript System had been created to help the graduated class access their transcript portal online.

The Promotion Application System, she said, is an online application and handling framework that gives a simple application process from beginning to end for all KNUST staff, with the TranSwift App, created to work with simple solicitation of student records on the web.

Prof. Mrs. Dickson demonstrated that the Feedback App had been created to accumulate ideas for thought by the board, and the TekScholar App is an internet platform that gives data about research publications, while the Timetable Management System pointed toward a booking and producing lecture timetables.

She praised the UITS for the great work done and encouraged the university’s local area to exploit the applications in carrying on with work.

Mr. Emmanuel N.O. Afful, Director of the UITS, said his reign would keep on supporting the college with creative stages to work with scholastic and managerial work.
