Soweto to host the fourth consecutive Tech Fest in 2020

Tech Fest Expo, formerly know as The Ekasi Tech and Gaming Expo will return for the 4th time in a row at the Soweto Theatre on the 26th and the 27th of June 2020.

The annual Tech Fest is hosted by the i-Village Foundation which is a non profit company along with partners in business, government, ICT, education and the consulting sector. The expo is set to create an enabling and promotional environment for gaming, tech and eSports in South Africa.

The expo looks to appeal and meet the needs of individuals with interest in tech and gaming in and around Soweto. Startups will also have the opportunity to showcase their innovation as well as engage with policymakers and investors in a bid to take their business to new heights.

In 2019, the event featured gaming titles like CS: Go International, FIFA, Tekken and Street Fighter V. The same lineup is expected for this year except for Street Fighter 5 which is being replaced by PUBG Mobile.

Tech Fest Expo spokesperson, Gabriel Ramokotjo said: “We’ve seen interest from every sort of gamer from all over the country. The expo has positioned itself as one of South Africa’s leading gaming event and has developed into a real family friendly weekend packed with something for everyone from eSports tournaments to VR Experiences”.
