TikTok has introduced a family pairing feature that will permit parents and teens to customize their safety settings based on their individual needs. The feature will be ready in weeks, and it will enable parents to pair their TikTok accounts to those of their teens.

The app allows users from the age of 13 who are mostly naive teens that still need parental guidance. In addition to Family Pairing, TikTok already offers several resources to support users, including educational safety videos and parental guides.

With more important reason, families have turned to social platforms like TikTok to stay entertained, informed, and connected. The lockdown, quarantines, and social distancing have limited everyone to adhere to digital entertainment sources for fun and entertainment.

The Family Pairing feature will improve TikTok’s set of safety tools and complements its work by providing greater access to product features for users to reach critical milestones for digital literacy.

The upgrade is part of TikTok’s dedication towards a safer platform for teens. And further, give parents a better ability to guide their teen’s online experience.

The acceptance of platforms like this is providing families with joint tools to express their creativity, share their stories, and show support for their communities. At the same time, they are often learning to explore the digital landscape together and focused on ensuring a safe experience.

TikTok account controls

The account controls include:

Screen Time Management: Parents are permitted to control the durations their teens can spend online. Besides, TikTok now has the option of creating videos for the younger age. These videos use the upbeat tone that TikTok junior users love. While further suggestions for them to take a break and do something online.

Restricted Mode: The app has restricted the appearance of content that may not be good for all audiences. Even without Family Pairing enabled, parents can help their teen set Screen Time Management and Restricted Mode by visiting the app’s Digital Wellbeing controls at any time.

Direct Messages: The app allows you to limit who can send messages to the linked account. Alternatively, turn off direct messaging completely. TikTok has as well implemented many policies and controls in place for messaging already. As of now, only approved followers can send direct messages to each other.

The app doesn’t permit the sharing of videos and messages via direct messages. Finally, from April 30, TikTok will be taking those protections a notch higher. The short-form video giant will automatically disable Direct Messages for registered accounts under the age of 16.
