Vice President To Launch One-stop Online Portal For Payment Transactions
The vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is prepared to launch a one-stop online portal for payment transactions in Ghana soon.
As part of the Digitisation agenda in Ghana for economic transformation, the vice president will be launching a one-stop online portal for payment transactions to promote digital transactions in Ghana.
The Ministry of Information on June 6, 2020, sent a tweet out that — the Ghana.Gov portal will serve as a National Digital Payment Platform to promote the government’s digitisation agenda.
Dr Mahamudu will be launching the platform formally in Accra today.
With comment from the Minister of Information, Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, he said the “platform comes as an additional layer to what the Akufo-Addo led administration has been doing to digitise the economy.”
He added that “The Ghana.Gov will provide a single point of access to all services of Ministries, departments and agencies of government and it will ensure that anybody who needs to make single payments can that do through the portal without having to interface with several people.”
Explaining the significance of the platform, the Information Minister said it will boost the government’s revenue collection, help save more on its expenditure as well as help government in the fight against corruption.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah added that the Vice President will use the occasion to repeat the government’s other efforts in the digitisation space.
In the early part of January this year, the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, declared the introduction of the one-stop portal; Ghana.Gov in line with government’s digitisation and economic transformation agenda.
The Vice President further elaborated that the Ghana.Gov online portal will synchronize all business transactions with all government agencies and enterprises. It will also empower members of the public to transact business with any government agency through the Ghana.Gov platform.
