WhatsApp to introduce Facebook-like stickers and group calling option

A beta update of WhatsApp shows a bunch of new features set to arrive on the popular chat app. The beta update versions for Android are 2.18.19 and 2.18.21.

According to a report on Wabetainfo, WhatsApp is bringing Facebook stickers on the chat app, The new stickers will be available in groups according to their categories on the Android app. Furthermore, there is another stickers pack that contains animated stickers, currently supported in WhatsApp. The first sticker pack that includes animated stickers is called Dragon Clan.

The Facebook-owned chat app has also removed the ‘show all contacts’ tab from the app, which according to the report might be a bug as it is still mentioned in the WhatsApp FAQ about finding contacts. WhatsApp had earlier confirmed about the group voice calls. The new beta update also hints of group video and voice call in the app.

The beta update doesn’t allow the users to switch between voice and video calls, which suggests that it might bring a group voice and group video call option and hence has stopped the support to switch between voice and video calls.

The new update also shows a new layout for the GIF button and an option to manage groups that allow the admin to demote or remove a person from a group.

Minor Changes to Participants List

In Group Info, you can find all administrators at the top of the group participants list. After that, numbers will continue to be arranged in order from “lowest to highest”. The change to the participant’s list means that users can easily know who the current admins of a group are without having to scroll all the way down.

WhatsApp recently rolled out the ‘Reply Privately” feature by mistake on the beta version of the Android app. The feature allows a user to respond to another user in the group without other group members knowing about it. The feature was later dropped from the beta version of the app.

If you want to check out these new features to the WhatsApp app, you need to be on the latest WhatsApp beta2.18.21, which you can grab from APK Mirror or by joining the official Play Store beta program.
