2021 BECE Results: “Fake” or Provisional; & More Questions Answered

The BECE 2021 Results were released a few days ago and there has already been a lot of anxiety and misinformation, especially among students who have already checked their results.

In this article, we explain some of the issues that have come up from the release and what they mean for students and in their bid to get a good school placement.

Are the 2021 BECE Results Fake?

Certainly not! The 2021 BECE results are by no means fake. The results are checked on the WAEC website – eresults.waecgh.org so we can be sure the results are from a trusted source.

Students who claim the results are fake usually have their basis from the fact that the page where results are displayed says that results are provisional. This by no means downplays the authenticity of the results. The BECE results displayed when you check are credible from WAEC.

What does Provisional BECE Results Mean?

When you check your BECE 2021 results, you would see a notice that says: “THE RESULTS GIVEN BELOW ARE PROVISIONAL. THE FINAL RESULTS ARE THOSE WHICH WILL BE PRINTED ON YOUR CERTIFICATE”

Provisional in English terms means something that is “arranged or existing for the present, possibly to be changed later”. It gives an allowance for a possible change, but it doesn’t mean it would be changed at all.

WAEC adds that the results are provisional so that should there be any change in results during transmission, they can not be held liable to accept that the subsequent change or mistake is the final result.

A lot of the results you see are going to remain like that when the certificate gets to your school. They will not change just because BECE the results are “Provisional”.

Why are some people’s BECE Results changing?

Some people have reported to Results Checker Ghana that their results have changed when they checked. Although we can not independently confirm the changes in results as a result of checking, we do know of a similar incident that happened during the checking of the 2021 WASSCE Results.

During the period, some results were changing for candidates, and WAEC closed down the eresults portal and explained the reason for the changes to the public.

In this scenario, however, there has been no statement from WAEC and the changes report has largely been unproven.

Don’t worry about that as a candidate. You should save your results as a PDF right after checking. Remember that the checker allows you to check the same results 3 times. If you have any proof of changing results, you can send it to [email protected].

Can you Upgrade your BECE Results?

According to WAEC, no one can upgrade your BECE Results for you. The term upgrading of results is used by fraudsters who charge from about GHS 50 to GHS 2000 for a so-called upgrading service.

If you meet anyone who says they upgrade results, immediately block them and report them to WAEC.

Conclusion

Take your time to check your results and save them. You should not allow others to mislead you about fake results rumors or talk you into “upgrading your results”.
