Apply: MTN Ghana Bright Scholarship 2020 for SHS Graduates & Tertiary Students
MTN Ghana Foundation has launched its Bright Scholarships scheme. A total of 300 students at the tertiary level stand to benefit.
A statement from the Foundation says students have till 31st May 2020, to apply for the scholarship, adding that a hundred scholarships are up for grabs for this year.
Beneficiaries will be selected from all 16 regions of Ghana, and the scholarships will cover the cost of tuition, accommodation and a stipend for books and other relevant reading materials.
Who Qualifies for the MTN Ghana Bright Scholarships?
All Applicants:
- Must be a citizen of Ghana
- Must be proven to be hard-working with excellent academic results
First Year University Students
- An applicant in the first year of any public tertiary institution in Ghana should have credit passes in six (6) subjects with an overall aggregate of 24 at the WASSCE/SSSCE respectively.
- Three of the six subjects should be core subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies and three must be in relevant electives.
- For the purposes of this Scholarship, a credit pass in:
- WASSCE means A1 – C6
- SSSCE means A – D
- Must not enjoy any form of an educational scholarship.
Continuing University Students
- Should have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Be involved in extra curricula activities.
- Be proven to be without any academic disciplinary issue and/or must not be serving a bond to be of good behaviour.
- Must not enjoy any form of an educational scholarship.
What you need before applying for the MTN Ghana Bright Scholarships
- Provide a one-page letter of motivation indicating why MTN Foundation should award you a scholarship for your education, including what your educational and professional goals are.
- Attach WASSCE results, admission letters and written Testimonials from your Senior High School. Please note that thorough checks will be made on all documents submitted.
- The application must be submitted together with valid contact details (Phone number/E-mail address).
How to apply for the MTN Ghana Bright Scholarships
- Visit scholarship.mtn.com.gh via your browser.
- Click “Register” on the left side of the page
- On the next page, read the criteria and click on “Agreed”.
- Fill out your personal details.
- Fill out your institutional details
- Fill out Awards/Recognition
Priority would be given to persons pursuing courses in ICT, Computer Science, and Engineering. Women and PERSONS with disability are especially encouraged to apply.

Aside from the Bright Scholarship, MTN Ghana Foundation launched the Teacher Improvement Award Programme in 2015.
Since the inception of the programme, 60 teachers have been awarded scholarships to pursue First or Masters’ Degrees at the University of Cape Coast and the University Education, Winneba.
MTN Bright Scholarship falls under education, which is one of the three focus areas of the MTN Ghana Foundation. Since the launch of the MTN Foundation in 2007, the Foundation has invested in over 82 educational projects across the country.
Some of these projects include a boys’ dormitory block for Akropong School for the blind, a six-unit classroom block for Kodjonya Millennium School, eight-unit dormitory block for Owerriman SHS, a three-unit classroom block for Akatsi, 108 Seater Library at Tsito Senior High School and the provision of over 1000 scholarships for needy but brilliant students across the country.
