The NIMC (National Identity Management Commission) has released a new update for Nigerians who are yet to get their Nation identity Number. The News was to address the issues on how a citizen in Nigeria & abroad can locate an approved center nearest to their location.

The Ongoing pursuit by citizens to get their NIN was due to the law by the Nigerian government that all telecommunication company to block any subscribers who refuse to link their National Identity Number to their mobile number.

What Document Do You Need To Enroll For NIN

To enroll for NIN you have different procedure and Document. For:

  • Adults (16 years and above)
  • Minors (16 years and below)

Adult: What Document and Procedure Do You Need To Enroll For National Identity Number

Nation identity Number
  • Previous National ID Card/Driver’s License/Voter’s card (Temporary or Permanent)
  • Nigerian International passport
  • Local Government of Origin
  • Birth certificate/Declaration of age
  • Attestation letter from a prominent religious/traditional ruler in your community
  • NHIS ID card
  • Government staff ID card
  • Registered/recognized private organization staff ID card
  • School ID Card (private/public)
  • Tax Clearance certificate
  • Valid immigration documents

Procedure

Enter any of the nearest NIMC Enrolment centers with your Bank Verification Number (BVN) with one of these document:

  • Enter the enrolment Centre with BVN & supporting document.
  • You’ll be verified if you have ever enrolled before, if not, you will be issued an enrolment form to fill.
  • After filled, the form will be crosscheck if the information is correctly provided as on the supporting document to check for errors/mistake-filled on the form.
  • The NIMC official will input your details on the NIMC Software and the applicant will be asked to double-check his/her information for errors using the applicant monitor.
  • After the applicant’s information is checked, the biometrics (ten fingerprints and facial images) of the applicant will be capture.
  • After completing, the applicant will be issued a Transaction ID Slip as evidence of the transaction which will be presented back for the NIN within 1-5 working days (temporary ID-card).
  • Within 12months after the Issuance of the Nation identity Number, the National e-ID Card will be issued to the applicant.

Minor: What Document and Procedure Do You Need To Enroll For National Identity Number

These should be available for Minors before entering any NIMC enrolment center:

  • Parent/Guardian must accompany minor with their National Identification Number (NIN) Slip.
  • Evidence to prove the Guardian has related to the minor (if Guardian’s NIN is used).
  • Registered Birth Certificate/ Statutory Age Declaration.

Supporting Documents:

  • Birth certificate/Declaration of age
  • School ID Card (private/Public)
  • NHIS ID card
  • Nigerian passport
  • Attestation letter from a prominent ruler, religious/traditional leader in the community.

Procedure

  • Parent/Guardian must come to the enrolment Centre with Minor.
  • the applicant will be verified if you have ever enrolled before, if not, you will be issued an enrolment form to fill.
