WhatsApp Down! Users across Ghana and Nigeria reporting issues
WhatsApp users say they are unable to send or receive pictures, voice notes, stickers and videos. This is due to server issues that WhatsApp is experiencing in most parts of the world as at Sunday afternoon.
Multiple users in Ghana and Nigeria have reported that they are unable to send and receive images, videos and voice notes on the popular messaging app.
Although stickers can be sent, they still need to be downloaded if the receiving party does not already have it and this seems not to work there.
First reports of the downtime emerged around 11:50 GMT. Text messages and status, however, appear to work very fine.
Many people had thought it was an issue with their service providers as countries in West Africa had experienced internet slowdowns earlier in the week.
On Twitter, #WhatsAppDown has started trending, with many users sharing memes about the outage.
