Choosing what blogging platform to use when setting up your blog is important. In this series, we focus on WordPress (the internet’s biggest blogging platform). There are other blogging platforms like Blogger. Tumblr and Medium.

Even within WordPress, there is WordPress.com and WordPress.org.

WordPress.com offers the quite popular .wordpress.com blogs. For example, I could have blogged on WordPress.com with mfidie.wordpress.com. However, I opted for Mfidie.com and installed WordPress.org. WordPress.org is free – the software is free, buy you would have to buy your domain and hosting as you need them to successfully launch your blog.

A domain name typically costs $12.99 / year, and shared web hosting normally costs $6.99 / month.

If you already have your domain name and hosting sorted out, setting up your blog should be quite easy. Confused? Let us help you with our free WordPress Blog setup.
